Consultation Response: Post-16 L2 and L3 qualifications - 2027 proposed subject content

The team welcomed the opportunity to contribute feedback to the consultation on developing subject content for the new post‑16 V Level pathway in digital systems and data. In our response, we noted that, while the qualification is intentionally broad, it would be helpful to ensure that progression routes into engineering and technology pathways are clearly signposted.

In our response, we reflected on how women's underrepresentation is not principally a recruitment issue, and we look forward to the publication of the consultation outcomes.
Response: Skills England Survey on Skills Passports

The team responded to the Skills Passports survey, which explores the potential of portable, standardised records of an individual's verified skills, qualifications and experience. In our response, we reflected that a skills passport could play a valuable role in strengthening the UK's engineering workforce, and we look forward to the publication of the survey outcomes.
Consultation Response: Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) - Temporary Shortage List Review

The team submitted a response to the Migration Advisory Committee’s Stage 2 consultation on the Temporary Shortage List, which seeks evidence on occupations considered critical to the UK’s Industrial Strategy and major infrastructure delivery. Our contribution forms part of the MAC’s wider evidence‑gathering process as it assesses which occupations should be recommended for inclusion on the Temporary Shortage List.

In our response, we reflected on how these proposals could support clearer progression for learners, and we look forward to the publication of the consultation outcomes and to continuing to support improvements in post‑16 education.
