What are the People's AI Summits?
The People's AI Stewardship Summits are a series of public dialogue events bringing together members of the public with experts, innovators, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to explore hopes, fears and expectations of AI to enable positive change and improve people's lives. The events are held in partnership with, and co-hosted by, the Academy's Regional Enterprise Hubs to create a unique space for stakeholders to listen to local members of the communities in which they are based.
The rapid proliferation of Generative AI technologies over the past few years, and the breadth of their penetration into areas of public and private life and society, has pushed the questions of safe and responsible development of AI technologies to the fore. But how do members of the public feel about the implications of the huge changes that AI may bring into work, health, finance, transportation and many other key areas of modern day life? What are their hopes and fears for these new tools? And how do they perceive responsibility, safety, and trustworthiness?
This series of summit brings together diverse voices and expertise to consider a wide range of views and to attempt to ensure that the voices of those who will be affected by technological change are listened to and heard by those developing, implementing and overseeing such technological innovations.
Interviews with the public on AI
At each of our summits we interviewed some of the public attendees as well as stakeholders to talk to them about their experiences with AI, provoke conversations on trust and understanding and see where public sentiment sits on whether it will be a positive or negative experience.
You can watch each series of videos on the summit pages above or explore them all in a YouTube playlist.
