INVITATION ONLY
Join Lord Vallance in celebrating the first anniversary of the Digital and Technologies Sector Plan, part of the government’s Modern Industrial Strategy, at a reception jointly hosted by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the Royal Academy of Engineering. The reception falls during London Tech Week, and the 50th anniversary of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and is part of a wider series of events and activities to mark the UK’s science, technology and engineering strengths.
Published in June 2025, the Sector Plan is the government’s first dedicated plan to support the UK’s Digital and Technologies Sector. It is central to the government’s Modern Industrial Strategy and sets out a clear vision to make the UK one of the top three places in the world to create, invest in and scale-up a fast-growing technology business.
Since publication, DSIT has been working in partnership with a wide range of government and external stakeholders to deliver the intent in the sector plan. This includes investing nearly £4 billion in the frontier technologies through UKRI, a world-first commitment of up to £1 billion to procure useful, large-scale quantum computers and the launch of Sovereign AI, a new sovereign venture fund to provide AI startups the capital and resources they need to scale in the UK.
In its 50th anniversary year, the Royal Academy of Engineering is building on five decades of bringing together outstanding innovators to engineer better lives by growing its Enterprise Hub to support more deep tech entrepreneurs in all regions of the UK The Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Hub was recently named the UK's leading startup hub by the Financial Times, and has backed founders who between them have raised £3.8 billion.
The reception is an opportunity to mark the progress that has been made and collectively look forward to the future.
We look forward to seeing you at an evening that will bring together leaders from across industry, founders, investors, and government, providing an opportunity to network and reflect on the achievements of the past year.
