Honouring a legacy, endowing the future
It is 50 years since HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh founded the Fellowship of Engineering. A lifelong champion of engineering, Prince Philip believed in its power to address society’s greatest challenges and inspire future generations. The Prince Philip Fund was established to honour this legacy and secure the Academy’s long-term future. Created as an unrestricted fund in perpetuity, it provides the flexibility to invest where need and impact are greatest, enabling engineering-led solutions that benefit society.
By making a gift to the Prince Philip Fund in our 50th anniversary year, you will help to ensure that Prince Philip’s vision endures and empowers the Academy to deliver impact for generations to come.

An engineering and technology legacy
The Prince Philip Fund ensures that the legacy of our Senior Fellow will be felt in the next 50 years and beyond.
As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re reflecting on the impact we have been able to achieve since our founding Fellows first gathered at Buckingham Palace in 1976. Learn more about our celebrations, and submit your memories of the Academy, on our 50th anniversary pages.
