Managing Director at Brompton Bicycle Limited
Will Butler-Adams has demonstrated how engineering, manufacturing and design can combine to build a globally successful British company.
Will has led the transformation of Brompton from a small manufacturer into an internationally recognised brand, growing turnover from £2 million to over £125 million, with engineering quality and innovation at its heart. Today, Brompton produces around 80,000 bicycles each year and exports to 47 countries worldwide.
A chartered mechanical engineer, Will began his career with roles at Nissan, ICI and DuPont before joining Brompton in 2002 and becoming CEO in 2008.
Will is a passionate advocate for all things engineering, serving as a founding trustee of the Inspiring the Future charity, a visiting lecturer at Imperial College London's Dyson school, a trustee of the ERA Foundation and author of Engineering for change.
He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2024 and awarded an OBE for services to manufacturing.
