Professor of Computer Science at University College London
Reimagining how humans interact with technology has been a central theme of Professor Sriram Subramanian’s work.
At UCL, where he is Professor of Computer Science and holds a Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies, Sriram’s research explores tangible interfaces, holography and programmable matter. His work challenges conventional screen-based interaction, creating new ways for users to engage with digital information in physical and immersive environments.
Sriram combines fundamental research with a strong focus on real-world application, co-founding companies such as Ultrahaptics and AcoustoFab to bring new technologies to market.
His “full-stack” approach—spanning science, engineering and design—has helped push forward the field of human–computer interaction.
Sriram was elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2025.
