UK IC Postdoctoral Research Fellowships
2021-2023
In recent years, 5G technology has found rapid implementation in telecommunication infrastructure throughout the world. While 5G networks promise enhanced mobile telecommunication services, their capabilities for passive radar operations have yet to be fully investigated. This presentation describes the passive radar principles and signal characteristics of a 5G-based passive radar and provides a link budget analysis to assess its detection range. Additionally, the ambiguity function characteristics of the 5G signal are discussed under different configurations to assess the potential impact on the passive radar performance.
