Research Fellowships 2021
Optoelectronic devices such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs) incorporating new, inexpensive materials minimise the energy used per watt of electrical output, reducing our energy consumption and harmful emissions. However, the widespread adoption of LEDs demands new technologies to exceed the levels of light efficiency of conventional LEDs while having full control over colour, directionality, and polarisation of the light source. Dr Anaya will develop new ways of tuning the emission characteristics of emerging LEDs through an optimised combination of novel synthetic and photonic methods driven by advanced optical modelling. These photonic-engineered LEDs will offer unique features, making them the next-generation light sources for real-world applications.
