Research Fellowships 2019
Dr White’s research focuses on the development of net zero energy systems, with a particular emphasis on technologies to provide sustainable electricity, heating, and cooling from low-grade heat sources. This includes solar-thermal, biomass, and geothermal heat, although a key area is industrial waste heat recovery where the decarbonisation of the energy intensive manufacturing sector represents a significant challenge. Dr White is currently researching innovative power generation cycles that could enhance power production in waste heat recovery applications. This is achieved by using turbines designed to operate with multiphase fluids. This concept is being explored through a combination of numerical modelling supported by experimental investigations into multiphase expansion processes.
