Dr Sorokina’s research project – Laser Brain – is a novel, ultrafast optical computing technology with record bandwidth and number of nodes. Big Data platforms have modified our way of life, business, economy, and healthcare, raising new challenges that range from smart city to security. The project addresses the growing need for fast processing of the ever-increasing volume of data. This innovative technology aims to generate a novel computing paradigm. Its applications range from engineering and biology to medicine and security enabling faster, more complex, and efficient algorithms to be realised in real time.
