Research Fellowships 2017
Dr Altmann’s research aims at leveraging advanced mathematical tools to solve large-scale imaging inverse problems. The development of novel imaging and sensing modalities has opened new avenues to observe the world at unprecedented scales (for example, high-speed, high-sensitivity, large fields-of-view). These new sensors come with new computational challenges for reliable information extraction given finite computing resources quantifying uncertainty and managing prime importance when information from multiple sensors is fused and presented to end-users. Dr Altmann is developing new computational methods rooted in applied statistics and machine learning. She is also developing computational imaging to enable scalable inference and uncertainty quantification for real-world imaging and sensing applications.
