Research Chairs and Senior Research Fellowships 2017-18
Professor Claire Davis is working on low energy steel processing technologies aiming to develop improved / new grades of steels and optimised processes. Steels are essential for our modern society, playing key roles in energy generation, transportation, packaging and construction. It is important that we continue to push to develop improved steels and efficient processing, which includes steels made from higher fractions of recycled content as we move towards net zero manufacturing. Claire, with her team and collaborators, is developing novel sensors for characterising steels during processing enabling better control to produce high performance steels; developing new generation electrical steels and exploring the effects of higher residual element contents, from recycling, on processing and properties.
