RAEng / Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowships 2025-2026
Dr Dan Sun’s research focuses on developing sustainable composite materials using advanced green plasma technology. The proposed plasma processing method operates at room temperature and atmospheric pressure, using only electricity and water — eliminating the need for harmful chemicals.
This innovative approach can tailor the material structures at the nanoscale, improving their performance while being energy-efficient and eco-friendly. It can also enhance how tiny particles mix with plastics, making stronger and more durable composite materials. By tackling major challenges in nanocomposite manufacturing, Dr Sun’s research supports the UK's goals for sustainability, a circular economy, and achieving net zero emissions.
