Industrial Fellowships 2022
As we decarbonise the economy our energy networks are changing. Professor Qadrdan’s research covers the expansion and operational planning of interdependent energy networks at scales from the community to the national level.
Professor Qadrdan develops optimisation and simulation modelling tools to look at, for example, interactions between gas, electricity, and heat supply systems. These tools can help with cross-sectoral flexibility to support the operation of low-carbon power systems and to look at whole-system impacts of heat decarbonisation pathways. Uncertainty is likely to be an ongoing issue in this field and these tools can help with energy infrastructure expansion planning in these conditions..
