Professor Zhenyu Jason Zhang, University of Birmingham

Industrial Fellowships 2021

As part of his Fellowship, Professor Zhang plans to work with one of the largest consumer goods companies, Procter & Gamble, to bring his expertise in soft matter engineering and tribology to improve the design of their products and enhance performance. Using soft matter engineering and tribology enables the industry to introduce consumer goods that are more efficient, more sustainable, and more eco-friendly. This will help them to use less resource, such as water and energy, use more natural compounds and create less waste, including surfactants and packaging materials.

The Fellowship will allow Professor Zhang to develop as a future leader in Formulation Engineering, delivering high value design principles leading to disruptive technology. He will also be able to bring the industrial perspective gained through the Fellowship to his teaching at the University of Birmingham.
