Dr Ziyad Shafik is an experienced power electronics engineer with a strong academic and industry background. Holding a Ph.D. in Power Electronics from the University of Strathclyde, specialising in advanced power converter design and control systems. Currently, as a Senior Staff Applications Engineer at Alpha & Omega Semiconductor, Ziyad leads silicon validation and application engineering for power management ICs. His technical expertise spans circuit design, automated testing, and system modelling across sectors including consumer electronics and aerospace. With prior roles at Renesas Electronics, Power Integrations, Rolls Royce Control Systems, and Texas A&M University at Qatar, he contributed to technology innovation while supporting a strong commitment towards hands-on engineering, STEM education, and research.
