Dr Phromphat Thansirichaisree
Dr Phromphat Thansirichaisree earned his bachelor's and master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Cambridge, with his PhD granted from the same institution. Currently, Dr Thansirichaisree is working as an associate professor at the School of Engineering in Thammasat University Rangsit, Thailand. He has published more than 60 research articles in international journals, with a H-index of 15.
His cutting-edge, AI-driven system automates crack detection for large concrete structures, allowing for faster, more accurate, cost-effective inspections. The system combines Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Fully Convolutional Networks (FCN) to deliver pixel-level accuracy, efficiently detecting and mapping cracks over extensive areas. Using photogrammetry, the system generates 3D models of structures, allowing cracks to be identified and visualised in real time. The integration of AI enables inspectors to detect structural damage early, avoiding costly repairs and enhancing safety. The automation of this process ensures that infrastructure can be maintained more effectively, preventing severe damage that can lead to costly overhauls or catastrophic failures, and promoting sustainability through extending the structure's lifespan.
