Dr Nur Ayuni Jamal
Dr Nur Ayuni Jamal currently serves as an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Manufacturing and Materials Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia. Her expertise lies in creating innovative materials that benefit the Malaysian community and beyond. Since 2012, she has focused on using carbonaceous materials for porous metal composites. She has won multiple gold awards in innovation-related competitions, and was granted copyrights in 2017 and 2024 for her research.
Dr Jamal has developed an innovative porous aluminium composite designed for impact energy absorption in the automotive industry. Her innovation seeks to promote sustainability, and the use of advanced manufacturing techniques, through emphasising the efficiency and design flexibility of lightweight materials. The advantages of this material include its lightweight structure, high strength-to-weight ratio, and excellent impact energy absorption capacity, which can be tailored based on specific requirements. The novel porous metal composite uses polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) as a space holder, and diamond as a reinforcement, being later fabricated via powder metallurgy methods.
