Muhammad Syazwan Johari
With over 10 years of experience in electronic circuit design and firmware development, Muhammad Syazwan Johari has led R&D projects in Internet of Things-based and satellite-connected technologies. As the Chief Technology Officer at Viucom, he has been at the forefront of developing innovative engineering solutions, including an IoT-Satellite Connected Ground Sensor Terminal, and a portable water filtration system. His background spans solar car automotive research for the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge, UAV design, and IoT gateways, demonstrating a deep commitment to technology and problem-solving in various fields.
Through Viucom, he has combined his experience to develop a decentralised and IoT-Satellite connected water filtration system capable of producing 120,000 litres of filtered water per day. The system extracts water from nearby rivers and deep-wells, passing through multiple layers of water filtration to produce clean and filtered water to be used by the community. The system, nicknamed SMART (System for Monitoring and Advanced Reticulation of Water Treatment) is packed into a small, 20-ft container and can be fully assembled on-site upon arrival. The startup has deployed its first ever prototype at the Brantian Village located in Sabah, Borneo, which has not received a clean supply of water for more than 60 years, providing a population of more than 300 people with a clean supply of water.
