Dr Danielle Gregorio Gomes
Danielle Gregorio Gomes is a distinguished expert in Agricultural Engineering, with a PhD in Plant Genetics and Breeding from the University of São Paulo. With over 20 years of experience in genetics, molecular biology, and biotechnology, she has been at the forefront of agricultural and industrial innovation. As a co-founder and Director of R, D&I at Metaquantion, Danielle has spearheaded the development of advanced molecular diagnostics, including real-time PCR (qPCR) technologies for addressing critical challenges in bioethanol production and agriculture. Her work focuses on molecular monitoring and diagnostics for agro-industrial contaminants, bridging the gap between scientific innovation and practical application.
Dr Gomes' innovation is the genetic monitoring of contaminants in bioprocesses allowing for precise interventions. The efficiency of the industrial process for ethanol production can be compromised by microbial contamination, resulting in economic and productive losses. Her innovation allows for immediate and effective interventions, as it quickly detects and quantifies its main contaminants, setting a new standard for quality control in ethanol plants by reducing production losses, and increasing overall efficiency. The rational use of antibiotics and other aggressive chemicals is crucial to future development, as these sustainable practices are less harmful to the environment.
