Aisa Labastilla
Aisa Mijeno-Labastilla, PCpE, is an engineer, educator, and social entrepreneur. She co-founded SALt (Sustainable Alternative Lighting), which provides metal-air based lamps for off-grid communities, and serves as CTO of Strider Tech Solutions Inc., offering IT solutions to offshore businesses. An Associate Professor at De La Salle Lipa, she also promotes innovation at NEXUS Fabrication Laboratory. Aisa’s achievements include TOYM 2019, TOWNS 2016, and the Good Design Award 2018. She is a Sergeant in the Philippine Air Force Reserve, and President-Elect of Soroptimist International of Lipa, supporting women and girls through education.
Sustainable Alternative Lighting (SALt) is a pioneering social enterprise committed to addressing energy poverty by providing eco-friendly, sustainable alternatives for lighting and charging needs. The innovative team behind SALt have developed a metal-air based lantern that utilises ocean water, one of the Earth's most abundant natural resources, to generate power. This renewable energy solution is capable of powering LED lights and charging low-power devices, such as smartphones, making it an ideal tool for off-grid communities.
