Rhealyn Quipo
Rhealyn Quipo is a professional Agricultural and Biosystems Engineer with a Master’s degree in Agricultural Machinery from Central Luzon State University. With nearly seven years in academia, she shares knowledge and skills with students while applying her expertise in designing agricultural machines to promote mechanisation and improve farming practices. Her work bridges conventional agriculture with modern technology, benefiting society and supporting quality education. Together with co-authors, she has filed intellectual property rights, completed research and extension projects, and published in various journals. She also enhances her expertise through trainings, seminars, and conferences.
Her innovation is a cost-effective machine called “Roasted Cacao Bean Breaker and Nib Shell Separator” revolutionising cacao processing by efficiently breaking roasted beans and separating nibs from shells and dust. Addressing the labour-intensive and time-consuming manual method, it enables large-scale production for local farmers. The device delivers 99.31% hulling efficiency, 98.9% nib purity, 19.07 kg/hr capacity, and minimal losses. Equipped with machine guards and a cyclone separator, it ensures operator safety. It’s simple, gender-sensitive design allows easy handling whether used in the household, or at an industrial scale.
