Fadi Shahroury
Fadi Shahroury is a Professor of Electronics Engineering and Assistant Dean at the King Abdullah II School of Engineering, Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), Jordan. He holds a Ph.D. from National Chiao-Tung University, and has conducted research in Sweden, Canada, and the UK. His work focuses on low-power electronics, IoT applications, renewable energy, and engineering innovation. With extensive academic, research, and project leadership experience, he is well-equipped to design practical, energy-efficient technologies that address real-world sustainability challenges.
His invention, IoT AgriSense, is a low-cost wireless sensor network that helps farmers monitor soil and environmental conditions to make better irrigation decisions. The system provides real-time data on moisture, temperature, and air quality and uses a simple mesh network that operates without expensive infrastructure. Designed for regions facing severe water scarcity, such as Jordan, the solution supports efficient water use, reduces waste, and improves crop productivity. By combining affordability, reliability, and ease of use, IoT AgriSense offers a practical alternative to complex and costly precision agriculture technologies.
