Engineering technology for commercialisation
Technology Transfer Training accelerates the commercialisation of university research, and growth of engineering businesses. The programme shares best practices from the UK and around the globe, and will give you the tools to influence change at a policy and institutional level in your country.
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Apply best practices in technology transfer within your own networks
- Engage and form links with the UK and the wider international engineering technology transfer network
- Identify ways to influence policy for the benefit of academic entrepreneurs interested in spinning out
- Understand how to measure the impact of your interventions.
Technology Transfer Training overview
This training will give you the skills and confidence to promote innovation and engineering entrepreneurship in your country, and increase the market and societal impact of high-potential research through:

Time commitment
Designed to run alongside full-time employment, the training is delivered over an eight-month period. The average time commitment is approximately four hours per month for online sessions, as well as five days for a residential in the UK at the end of the programme. The training includes an average of six networking opportunities, three university visits, and 10 hours of group mentoring.
Collaboration with global stakeholders
One key objective for each training programme is to convene global stakeholders to work together towards a common goal, and to take part alongside other country cohorts from the same region.

The training is open to applicants from all countries and is open to:
- Senior government officials working in technology and innovation agencies
- Technology transfer teams from universities
- Incubators and accelerators.

Logistics and costs
The standard number of participants we would deliver this training for is 20. This helps to ensures that each participant is actively involved throughout the programme.
