As part of the Community Conference optional offerings, delegates are invited to register for these limited-places site visits to four of Glasgow’s most dynamic centres of innovation and excellence, to explore the city’s unique legacy of growth and innovation. Each visit offers a unique opportunity for a limited number of awardees to engage cutting-edge facilities, meet experts driving change, and discover how Glasgow is shaping the future of industry, sustainability, and technology.
These site visits are offered as first-come-first-served to awardees registered as attending the Community Conference in Glasgow. Transport will be arranged and provided free of charge from the Glasgow Marriott to the venues and back.

National Manufacturing Institute Scotland
An opportunity to visit the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and experience the future of Scottish manufacturing and their growing network of world-class manufacturing R&D facilities. After a welcome talk, you will be taken on an exclusive tour of NMIS's state-of-the-art flagship facility, where you'll tour the site and engage directly with members of the R&D team. You will learn how NMIS is fostering collaboration between industry, academia and the public sector to deliver transformative manufacturing research - driving productivity, boosting competitiveness and developing the next generation of skilled talent.
This tour is fully accessible with level access, elevator, and accessible toilets. Assistance dogs are welcome in public areas but will require separate permission to access workshops and labs.

An opportunity to visit the University of Glasgow and the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre awaits. Included in this tour will be a guided tour of the UK's leading Nanofabrication cleanroom based at the University of Glasgow which houses over £35M of state-of-the-art fabrication and metrology equipment. There will also be a tour of the Extreme Light Research Group facilities hosted by Prof. Daniele Faccio – RAEng Chair in Emerging Technologies – whose work focusses on technologies that will enable new forms of imaging with applications ranging from seeing behind and through walls to quantum microscopy. You will have a chance to visit labs including Computational-Quantum Imaging Lab, Quantum Fundamentals Lab and Human Augmentation Lab (HAL).
This tour take place in two buildings. The ARC building is fully accessible with step-free access to Level 2, our publicly accessible ground floor, with accessible toilets. There is ramped access to the James Watt building. Assistance dogs are welcome in public areas but cannot be admitted into the cleanroom and would need to be approved for entry into labs.

Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre
Have a first look at the brand-new Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC), the national facility supporting the UK’s transition to a net zero economy through innovation, collaboration, and advanced manufacturing. Located at the Rolls-Royce facility, ANZIC provides open-access, industrial-scale research, testing and development capabilities for clean energy, transport, and digital technologies. Included in the tour will be an overview of ANZIC and 40-minute walking tour of the facilities covering semiconductor innovation and manufacturing and a factory floor tour of the shared Rolls Royce facilities.
This tour is fully accessible with ramped access and accessible toilets. Assistance dogs are welcome.

GCID – Glasgow City Innovation District
An opportunity to visit Scotland’s first innovation district and learn about the innovation ecosystem that supports the continued growth of Glasgow’s key industry sectors. Included will be an overview of GCID and a tour of the Technology & Innovation Centre (TIC), which embodies the triple helix approach transforming the way academics, business, industry and the public sector work in partnership. The tour will showcase the Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation (CMAC) Hub, a world class centre of excellence for future medicines manufacturing, as well as the UK Fraunhofer research Centre, the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics, established in 2012 at the University of Strathclyde. There will also be a neurotechnology lab tour by Dr Keith Mathieson – RAEng Chair in Emerging Technologies – whose work focusses on neurotechnology and the development of cutting-edge devices to interface with neural systems.
This tour is fully accessible with lifts and accessible toilets. Assistance dogs are welcome in public areas but would need to be approved for entry into labs.
