PUBLIC EVENT
We are excited to bring you our second Policy Fellowships Showcase, which aims to demonstrate the impact of the Academy's Policy Fellowships Programme, highlight the work of our Policy Fellows, and lead insightful conversations while connecting the worlds of policy and engineering. We are honoured to be joined by a special guest speaker, Sir Chris Wormald KCB, Permanent Secretary at the Department of Health and Social Care, who will deliver a keynote speech and participate in a panel discussion on engineering better public services.
How does engineering contribute to better bridging policy and public services delivery? How can we build the public sector’s capability to use engineering and systems thinking? How to deploy effective collaboration between the public sector and engineering communities to tackle complex challenges and drive practical solutions?
We invite policymakers and public servants to explore these questions with our expert panel and discover examples from the Academy’s prestigious Policy Fellowships programme, spanning the fields of local urban planning, children criminal exploitation and UK energy system future planning.

About the Policy Fellowships programme
As the UK’s national academy for engineering and technology, the Royal Academy of Engineering brings together the most talented and successful engineers, finest systems thinkers and outstanding talent in technology for the benefit of society. The Policy Fellowships inspires policymakers to think differently and to use engineering and systems thinking to frame complex and wicked problems, and design resilient solutions. The programme has grown a unique network of policymakers, engineers and other experts who are working together to develop fresh insights and approaches to economic, social and technical problems.
