During the evening we will showcase an exclusive preview of our new This is Engineering website and host a panel discussion and Q&A about bridging the gap between supply and demand for engineering talent, and the role of alternative career routes into engineering.
While the UK focuses on becoming a net zero economy, demand for engineers is predicted to grow faster than other occupations and demand for ‘green engineering’ roles in the UK have increased by more than half (55%) over the last five years.
However, with this demand far outstripping supply, coupled with a cost of living crisis; how can we bring more young people from all backgrounds into engineering and technology, to improve outcomes for both people and planet? This is the question we will be putting to our panel, as we explore what is already being done, and where we go from here.
We expect the evening to engineer some very lively and insightful conversations.

National Engineering Day
National Engineering Day is back on 1 November 2023. In a bid to boost the profession’s numbers by demonstrating that engineering is more than its narrow stereotype and that anyone can be an engineer, the Royal Academy of Engineering is inviting Britons to release their inner engineer by sharing the ideas and innovations that have the potential to make their daily lives more sustainable. It could win them the chance to develop their ideas and innovations still further with experts and high profile entrepreneurs.
