The Lord Bhattacharyya Engineering Education Programme was established in March 2020 as a tribute to the late Professor Lord Kumar Bhattacharyya CBE FREng FRS, who founded WMG at the University of Warwick.
Lord Bhattacharyya was extremely passionate about inspiring the next generation of engineers and technicians, and the programme was set up in order to build a skills base that builds on the West Midlands’ long and proud heritage of engineering. The programme delivers engineering-focused STEM education support for both students and their teachers, which ultimately enables students’ progression into further and higher education.
At this annual celebration event, the programme’s network of secondary schools and colleges have been asked to contribute to an exhibition that showcases the projects and activities they have been delivering as part of the programme. From 3D printing and drones, to hydroponics and the perfume industry, schools and colleges have been undertaking exciting projects that demonstrate the vast range of careers and roles available within engineering.
