The Royal Academy of Engineering has launched a new online Q&A series to explore the different ways that the engineering profession is contributing to the COVID-19 response. Through a series of interviews with engineers involved in innovative projects and multidisciplinary efforts, we will highlight the ways in which the community has mobilised to rapidly add expertise to the ongoing battle against the virus, and learn lessons from innovating and scaling at pace.
In response to the pandemic, engineers at University College London and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains have worked in collaboration to produce the UCL-Ventura breathing aid - a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) device which is now in operation in hospitals. The Q&A session was chaired by Professor Mark Miodownik MBE FREng.
