The Royal Academy of Engineering has launched a new online Q&A series to explore the different ways that the engineering profession is contributing to the COVID-19 response. Through a series of interviews with engineers involved in innovative projects and multidisciplinary efforts, we will highlight the ways in which the community has mobilised to rapidly add expertise to the ongoing battle against the virus, and learn lessons from innovating and scaling at pace.
From sports stadiums to conference centres, how do the Nightingale Hospitals in each city differ, what unique engineering challenges did each venue pose, and what lessons can be learned for the future? Hear from Mott MacDonald and BDP engineers - the project managers and architects who worked to deliver the Nightingale Hospitals across the UK. The Q&A session was chaired by Elspeth Finch MBE.
