Autonomous systems present exciting opportunities to change our world by doing things more quickly, effectively and sustainably. Their adoption asks new questions of the public, of engineers and of regulators: what do we expect of them and how can we ensure they are safe?
As part of an ongoing project, the Royal Academy of Engineering is hosting an event in partnership with BAE Systems to coincide with the publication of the latest National Engineering Policy Centre output. Through a facilitated conversation, the opportunities and challenges presented by autonomous systems will be explored with the innovators developing the technology.
The conversation, chaired by Professor Dame Muffy Calder DBE FREng FRSE, Professor of Computer Science, Vice-Principal and Head of College of Science and Engineering, University of Glasgow, will delve into the experiences of developing autonomous systems in different sectors and innovative environments, as well as barriers to deployment.
