Introduction
This resource helps students learn by doing. Instead of being given the answers, problem-based learning (PBL) invites them to explore ideas, work together, and build their own understanding - with teachers guiding and supporting along the way.
These resources take the form of five open-ended projects that conform to a PBL model where students are encouraged to research and develop their own work plans to achieve a technical objective and prepare them better for the world of work.
For further understanding behind these resources and how they were developed read the Engineering Solutions - an innovative pedagogy. Information on how to use these resources and get the most from them can be found in the Overarching guide.
What's in this resource?
Each project resource consists of:
- A student pack which contains key information related to the proposed task and forms to use throughout the various stages of the project
- A teacher pack with advise on how to deliver the projects and suggestions for lesson plans
- A series of technique sheets provided to support the revision of topics that the students may need to complete the project
The full set of technique sheets can be accessed here
