Richard Hefford-Hobbs is a serial entrepreneur, inventor, innovator and champion of traditional crafts, and is internationally recognised for his expertise in advanced manufacturing engineering. Following a full craft apprenticeship, he founded Cambridge Precision, now a King’s Award for Enterprise winner (2024) and a key player in Cambridge’s tech expansion. He holds key patents in three enterprises: Gallyon (weapon systems), Weeding Technologies (agriculture), and Hydramach, (food processing). He is the Master of the Worshipful Company of Gunmaker’s and was a Trustee of the Gunmakers Trust for ten years, and former vice-president of Heritage Crafts. Currently he is a Fellow-Commoner of Lucy Cavendish College Cambridge, recognising his work with engineering students.
