Professor Svetan Ratchev is an internationally renowned expert in advanced manufacturing and factory automation. He is Founding Director of the University of Nottingham Institute for Advanced Manufacturing. Svetan has led large research programmes in digital manufacturing, factory integration and assembly automation, including the current EPSRC Made Smarter Research Centre for Connected Factories. He worked with major companies in the aerospace and defence industry to implement new solutions for cost effective and sustainable manufacturing of low-volume high-complexity products. He is passionate about developing future manufacturing engineers through mentorship and by promoting manufacturing engineering as a profession.
