Deputy Administrator, Panama Canal Authority
Ilya Marotta is a maritime engineer best known for her direction of the Panama Canal Expansion Project. The project earned her international recognition in the maritime engineering world for her engineering leadership and large-scale project management credentials. She is currently Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal Authority and is the first woman to hold this post. She is also the organisation’s first Chief Sustainability Officer, ambitiously aiming to reach net-zero emissions throughout the Panama Canal system. She is a role model and champion for women in leadership and the engineering profession.
