Attendance at the symposia is by invitation only following a rigorous selection process. We strongly welcome expressions of interest from eligible candidates.
All candidates should have the following characteristics:
Be 5-20 years post-doctorate, or have equivalent experience in industry
Have an established interest in working for international development purposes, or be keen to apply existing work to a development context
Have the potential to be a future leader of their academic/industry community
We welcome applications from both UK-based and international organisations. Given that this is a cross-Academy, interdisciplinary event, we welcome applications from all corners of academia and industry, engineering or otherwise.
The Academy is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion in the engineering profession and beyond, so we actively encourage nominations from all backgrounds.
Symposia 4-6: Building Resilience Series
Urban Crisis Resilience | Disaster Resilience | Resilient Resource Use
The next series of symposia will focus on the overarching theme of 'Building Resilience'. The first symposium in this series is being held in partnership with Heriot-Watt university and will take place at the Heriot-Watt Campus in Malaysia from Tuesday 23 July to Friday 26 July 2019. The title of this symposium is 'The Urban Opportunity for Building a Resilient Future'.
The deadline for expressing interest for the symposium in Malaysia has now closed. To register interest in the future symposia in this series, please complete the expression of interest form here.
Please note that places are limited and competitive, so expression of interest or nomination does not guarantee a place at the next symposium. However, eligible candidates will be collated and considered for future symposia. A detailed outline of an individual’s eligibility will improve their chance of selection. Previous participation at Frontiers symposia will be taken into consideration, and all other things being equal, we will look to prioritise giving the opportunity to those who have not previously attended a Frontiers symposium.
