Applications are now closed for the Lord Bhattacharyya higher education bursary scheme. 

The scheme is only open to eligible students from the following West Midlands schools who are part of the Lord Bhattacharyya Engineering Education Programme:

  • Ash Green School, Coventry
  • Etone College, Nuneaton
  • St Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, Birmingham
  • Sidney Stringer Academy, Coventry
  • Whitley Academy, Coventry
  • WMG Academy for Young Engineers, Coventry
  • WMG Academy for Young Engineers, Solihull
  • Warwickshire College
  • South and City College Birmingham
  • North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College
  • Coventry College
  • Ernesford Grange Community Academy, Coventry
  • Nicholas Chamberlaine School, Nuneaton
  • Colmers School and Sixth Form College, Birmingham

You must be in receipt of a conditional or unconditional offer of acceptance on an engineering degree course, including those with an integrated foundation year, from a UK university starting in September/October 2020 and be able to provide evidence with your application, including any confirmation of offers you have accepted.

You will also need to meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • You have been eligible for free school meals
  • You will be the first generation in your immediate family to attend university
  • You are currently in, or have spent time in, the local authority care system
  • You have not attended a fee-paying school at any time since the age of 11 (except where you may have been in receipt of a scholarship)
  • At least one of your parents/guardians in receipt of state benefits

The closing date for applications is 5pm, Friday 5th June 2020.                                                IMPORTANT: Closing date now extended until 5pm, Tuesday 23rd June 2020

Any applications that are incomplete, do not meet the eligibility criteria or do not adhere to the guidelines may be rejected.
