The Royal Academy of Engineering’s annual Awards Dinner recognises and celebrates excellence in UK engineering innovation. This year’s special milestone event, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the prestigious MacRobert Award, will take place on Thursday 11 July 2019 at Banqueting House, London.

Over 300 invited guests will attend this year, comprising influential leaders from across business, academia, policy makers and media, and engineering’s rising stars.

Each year at the Awards Dinner, the Academy presents individual and team awards that celebrate and recognise achievement by exceptional engineers at every stage of their career, with focus on those delivering societal benefit.


Awards to be presented at the Awards Dinner 2019 include:

  • MacRobert Award
    Celebrating 50 years of the most prestigious annual prize for UK engineering innovation

    For an Academy Fellow who has greatly contributed to the Academy’s work and aims
  • Major Project Award
    For a team that has played a critical role in a major engineering project that has had substantial impact on society
  • Silver Medal
    For outstanding personal contribution to UK engineering that has had significant commercial impact by early to mid-career engineers
  • Rooke Award
    For public promotion of engineering by an individual, team or project
  • RAEng Engineers Trust Young Engineer of the Year
    In recognition of tomorrow’s engineers, those who have demonstrated excellence in the early stage of their career within ten years of graduation from their first engineering degree
  • Sir George Macfarlane Medal
    Presented to the overall winner from the RAEng Engineers Trust Young Engineer of the Year category
