Attendance at the symposia is by invitation only following a rigorous selection process.

All nominees should have the following characteristics:

  • Have less than 20 years experience in the relevant field
  • Have an established interest in engineering for international development purposes, or be keen to apply existing work to combat global challenges
  • Have the potential to be a future leader of the engineering and/or international development community.

We strongly welcome expressions of interest from eligible candidates or nominations from appropriate senior individuals, such as heads of department, Fellows of the Academy or CEOs.

We welcome nominations from both UK-based and international organisations. The Academy is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion in the engineering profession, so we actively encourage nominations from all backgrounds.

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please follow the appropriate link below. Please note that places are limited and competitive, so nomination does not guarantee a place at the next symposium. However, eligible candidates will be collated and considered for future symposia, and a detailed outline of an individual’s eligibility will improve their chance of selection.
