This year the Academy’s annual diversity and inclusion event will share findings and recommendations from research on the gender pay gap in engineering, undertaken by the Academy and WISE, highlighting effective evidence-based actions concerning recruitment, retention and career progression to help engineering organisations, of all sizes, develop a meaningful action plan to close their gender pay gap.
While the profession is working to increase the number of female engineers, there is still much more to be done and the pace of change is too slow. Only 12% of people working in engineering are women, compared with 47% of the whole UK workforce. UK engineering is facing serious skills shortages, and addressing diversity and inclusion will not only help close this gap, it will also help drive innovation and creativity and ensure that those who design and build the world around us are more reflective of wider society.
Join us to hear from leading engineering companies on how they are tackling imbalances in recruitment, retention and career progression and to share best practice and practical solutions to achieve a gender balance in engineering.
This event will also include workshops on inclusive team working, how to be an effective ally, and how to use data to effect change.
Who should attend?
We are keen to make the audience for this event as representative of the profession as possible and particularly encourage male attendance, as well as:
