For the last seven years, the Royal Academy of Engineering (the Academy) has been delivering a programme to increase diversity and inclusion (D&I) across engineering. In June 2018, the Academy launched its Inclusive Recruitment Toolkit, which was developed by a group of engineering employers and employer-led organisations, with the support of recruitment organisation ClearCompany.

This workshop is a joint event between the Academy and Business in the Community's (BiTC) diversity campaigns. It will bring to life the toolkit and the BiTC resources, through practical exercises to help organisations develop an inclusive recruitment process.

Attendees at the event will:

  • hear from Sandra Kerr, Director of the Race Equality Campaign at BiTC, on why inclusive recruitment is important to the success of an organisation
  • listen to Paul Oatham, Global Talent Acquisition Manager at Bechtel, speak about how the toolkit was developed and its practical uses in engineering organisations
  • take part in interactive sessions on how the toolkit and BiTC resources can be used within the recruitment and selection process to make it more inclusive.
