This event is being held as part of LGBT science, technology, engineering and maths day events to dispel myths about measuring diversity and share good practice.
The panel will discuss the power of data, using examples including a recent Academy report that found that LGB engineers were over 40% less likely to be open about their sexual orientation than their heterosexual counterparts. They will also discuss findings by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation, which found that LGBT-inclusive companies attract better talent, increase retention and have stock prices increase by an average of 6.5%. As an industry, engineering needs to become better at measuring D&I to be able to make meaningful progress.
