This event will launch the Royal Academy of Engineering Graduate Engineering Engagement Programme (GEEP) to support addressing skills gaps through a focus on diverse graduate recruitment. Aside from launching the GEEP, the event will:

  • Share a report on the three-year pilot project that informed the development of the GEEP
  • Report findings from research on the recruitment practices of engineering employers
  • Disseminate an inclusive recruitment toolkit designed with engineering employers in mind
  • Provide an opportunity to find out more about other Academy work on diversity and inclusion – including the This is Engineering campaign

Twelve engineering employers, an external supplier and over 450 students participated in the Academy-led pilot engagement programme that informed the GEEP. The event will provide an opportunity to find out about results so far, and the challenges to increasing the employment of female, ethnic minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged engineering graduates – especially those from newer universities. 

This event will also share findings from an investigation into engineering employer recruitment practices by the Academy’s Education and Skills Committee; and insight into an inclusive recruitment toolkit developed by the Academy Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Group (DILG).
