For the past six months, 12 talented entrepreneurs from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe have undertaken an intensive course of training and mentoring from UK and international business leaders and experts. Three of the finalists chosen from that group, will pitch their projects to the audience and the convened judging panel during the event. Following their pitches, there will be an opportunity for delegates to vote for who should receive £25,000 and win the 2016 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation.

The Royal Academy of Engineering established the Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation to stimulate, celebrate and reward innovation and entrepreneurship in sub-Saharan Africa. Its aim is to encourage ambitious and talented engineers from all disciplines to apply their skills to develop scalable solutions to local challenges, highlighting the importance of engineering as an enabler of improved quality of life and economic development.
