Tinkering as a purposeful approach to engineering in primary schools. What is the point in engineering when you are eight years old?

In the series' sixth webinar, Dr Lynne Bianchi, Director, Science and Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub, University of Manchester, explores how engineering can have relevance and resonance in primary schools.

Drawing on the Academy's Thinking Like an Engineer and Tinkering for Learning reports, as well as insights from recent research into progression in engineering, she will introduce principles and approaches developed with teachers that enable an interdisciplinary approach to engineering through mainstream primary curriculum. She will be joined by Dr Jon Chippindall and Julie Wiskow from the university's Science and Engineering Education Research and Innovation Hub.
