The E4E-commissioned report Engineering the future: training today’s teachers to develop tomorrow’s engineers, was launched on 21 January 2019.

Report: Engineering the future: training today’s teachers to develop tomorrow’s engineers (2.46 MB)

Given that primary teachers typically lack the confidence to teach engineering-related themes to their students and are unfamiliar with the breadth of career opportunities engineering offers, the study showed the student teachers could use Engineering Habits of Mind as a conduit to understand the interdisciplinary connections between subjects and help them to plan computing, D&T and science lessons, raising the number of opportunities for primary learners to engage with engineering.

The launch, here at the Academy, was attended by authors from the University of Winchester, trainee teachers and PEI representatives.
