BP will be hosting us in their Upstream Learning Centre. One of the worlds largest energy companies with exploration and production operations across the globe, BP will provide attendees with an insight into their business and the many careers it offers engineers and techncians. 

The session will include a tour of the simulators BP uses to train its engineers.

Also included:

  • A toolkit to support diversity and inclusion in engineering
  • Sharing of engineering best practice between delegates
  • Discussion and implementation of pedagogy
  • Free contextualised, interactive teaching and learning resources on:

Mechanical topics:

  • Centre of gravity, forces and moments (5 resources)
  • Motion and projectiles (2 resources)

Electrical/electronic topics:

  • AC theory and filters (3 resources)
  • Characteristics and addition of AC signals (1 resource)
  • DC networks (1 resource)
  • Basic magnetism and electromagnetism (1 resource)

Attending this event will help lecturers to:

  • Understand diversity and inclusion issues in engineering and hear about emerging best practices to address them
  • Impart strategies for improving recruitment and retention of students from underrepresented groups
  • Formulate approaches to tackle messaging and culture change issues that affect the take-up of engineering
  • Share experiences and best practice in teaching mechanical and/or electrical principles
  • Plan to use the free contextualised interactive resources to improve provision for their students.

Attendees will be asked to share a practical, hands-on idea that they have implemented in their teaching of mechanical and/or electrical principles.  

The CPD event is free to attend and the Academy will contribute up to £50.00 towards travel costs.
