The Diversity & Inclusion programme’s (D&IP) strategy 2016-2020 builds on progress made so far by setting out the vision and mission of the programme:

Vision

An inclusive engineering profession that inspires attracts and retains people from diverse backgrounds and reflects UK society.

Mission

Leading the engineering profession to challenge the status quo, stimulate cultural change and improve diversity and inclusion.

The programme has three strategic aims: providing insight to remove barriers to D&I in engineering employment and professional registration; engaging in partnerships to remove barriers to increasing D&I and delivering impact through communications.

Strategic aims

Providing insight to remove barriers to D&I in engineering employment and professional registration

  • Analyse data and information to quantify and provide narrative on diversity and inclusion in the engineering skills pipeline and across engineering employment and professional institutions

Engaging in partnerships to remove barriers to increasing D&I

  • Collaborate and partner with the Academy internally, engineering employers, professional engineering institutions and others to remove barriers to progressing diversity and inclusion

Delivering impact through communications

  • Communicate solutions, good practice and research to effectively remove barriers; and celebrate progress and success
