Professor Zi-Qiang Zhu FREng

Professor Zhu is distinguished for his outstanding contribution in the field of electrical machines and control systems. He has been responsible for developing, and is leading, an internationally renowned research group at the University of Sheffield. He is the Founding Director of four industry-funded research centres including the Sheffield-Siemens Wind Power Research Centre. He has pioneered advanced machines that use novel techniques to provide high torque density coupled with high efficiency. His work has been commercially exploited by a number of international companies in automotive, aerospace, domestic and renewable energy market sectors.
