Jane Butler FREng
Vice-Dean (Enterprise), Faculty of Engineering, University College London (UCL)
Jane Butler’s contributions to engineering in academia, industry and society are impressive. Her re-organisation of UCL’s engineering interaction with industry has had profound impact, and as a champion of the Athena SWAN Initiative at the university, she has helped to progress the role of women in engineering. While at Cisco, she was involved in positioning the company in many new global markets. Her work with the organisation also connected whole generations of students to the internet in Africa, Asia and South America, with a training programme educating thousands of young people from these regions.
